Eco-Conscious Beauty Routine: Integrating Natural Lashes Into Green Living

The world of eyelash extensions is a constantly growing, expanding one. People have been using eyelash extensions for years and there has been a traditional, homogeneous way of using them. However, with the world at a climate breaking point, it is important to think inward about how best to execute our products within this industry.

At Method Lash, we are aiming to have as little impact on the environment while having a maximal impact on your look! We have a fabulous range of eyelashes, as some of you may know, but we are trying to simultaneously help maximize your benefits from them while being environmentally friendly.

We have provided some info about how to accurately use our products and give a bit of background on some of our practices. These include usage notes, packaging information, and a little bit about us and our ethos as a company.

We have also included some DIY tips and tricks for you to keep happy and healthy lashes at home. This enables you to get the most out of your eyelash extensions when you choose to wear them, and potentially reduce the amount you have to wear them. We hope you enjoy learning a bit about how this works!

Usage

using eyelashes

Our lashes are built to last for 7-10 days. This cannot be said for all eyelash extensions. We definitely recommend using these lashes for the allotted time. After 10 days you might have some issues with cleanliness, adhesion, and a few others. These are built to last up to 10 days, however.

Best practices for ensuring that your eyelashes last for as long as possible are: ensuring you clean them daily, using our recommended adhesive, keeping out of the hot sun and water for at least 2 hours after application, and generally engaging in roughhousing activity while you’re wearing them if possible!

Disposal

Ideally all of the above and below points will be followed and your eyelash extension sustainability game will be on point. In any case, disposal is an important aspect. Though they are small in size, eyelash extensions are hardy materials and are not that easily compostable.

In the case of our lashes, these are synthetic lashes that need to be recycled in the proper manner in order for them to properly be disposed of. At Method Lash, every order is delivered with a recycling kit that is super easy to use.

Each and every lash is recycled to make new paper and plastic for new usage! This wonderful circle of production helps to reduce the amount of new materials used and make the most of the ones we have used.

Brands

The bigger the brand, the less likely it is that they will be a sustainable brand. This is a generalization but it is the truth. As corporations grow, they have a greater need for profit and this becomes the sole focus of their work. This is a necessary part of their economy, but it is harmful to the environment. Bigger brands often tend to ignore sustainability calls and simply donate money to environmental causes to mask their impact.

Supporting smaller companies, such as Method Lash, who have a promise and commitment to sustainable practices is your best bet at keeping honest with your sustainability. Choosing smaller operations can keep you and your habits honest, and sustainable!

Natural Products

Vitamin E

Vitamin E has become a truly popular go-to for homegrown lashes. Vitamin E is known to be the primary vitamin that stimulates hair growth among a variety of different metabolic functions. Vitamin E is commonly found in many foods that you’ll eat regularly as part of a standard Western diet.

Vitamin E supplements, unfortunately, have not been proven effective in establishing continuous lash growth. Vitamin E oil is a common product but there hasn’t actually been that much proof that it helps. Some people have claimed it even has an adverse effect! If you have a Vitamin E deficiency it is possible that extra Vitamin E might stimulate growth though there isn’t much proof for this.

Coconut Oil

coconut oil

Coconut Oil is one of the most versatile and wonderful natural tools. Coconut oil is great as a skin moisturizer, a cooking oil, a hair-repairing agent, and many more. Coconut oil, particularly cold-pressed, extra virgin coconut oil, is known for being helpful with hair so why would it not be good for lashes?

There is no real link between coconut oil and extended lash growth. Though coconut oil can help your hair grow strong and healthy, it doesn’t seem to be appropriate to stimulate eyelash hair growth.
