Lash Application Tips for Deep-Set Eyes: Make Them Stand Out Naturally

Few features capture the attention of another like a pair of deep-set eyes. It may seem like a subtle difference, but oh how subtle brings in sultry and intrigue.

Allow us to show you just how beautiful your eyes can be with a few simple tips and clever little tricks. Fear not. With a handful of our methods here at Method Lash, you can turn your eye shape into an asset.

Come. Let us explore the secrets of lash application designed specifically for those whose eyes nestle beautifully behind the brow. Like that?

Embracing the Beauty of Your Eyes

Deep-set eyes, or recessed eye sockets as many would call them, create a natural crease above the lash line, which can swallow the base of a strip lash or cast too much shadow when filled in with traditional eye makeup. For the rest of this little guide, we’ll be calling them deep-set eyes. Recessed eye sockets, while correctly descriptive, give us hardware store vibes.

So, instead of viewing deep-set eyes as a limitation, recognise it as an opportunity. That gentle dip beneath the brow can become a stage for artful styling, lending an air of sophistication. Learning the simple adjustments needed for your eye shape means you can flaunt your features rather than keep them hidden.

Picking the Perfect Lash Style

Let’s start by choosing the right lash! And this one should never feel daunting. That’s why we’ve dedicated pages for you to browse - just so everyone can find their abso-perfect lash!

We’d recommend lightweight styles with a moderate curl to start, and we feel like they work best. Look for lashes described as natural or wispy. These options often feature shorter hairs at the inner corner and longer, more dramatic lengths towards the outer edge. The effect gives a subtle lift, opening the eye and lengthening the lash line without overwhelming.

We think, especially for now, that it’s best to avoid ultra-thick or densely packed strips that press down on your natural hairs. You can get there eventually, but let’s start with old reliables, shall we?

Measure and Trim

  • Place the lash strip along your lash line without adhesive.
  • Trim the outer end of the strip if it extends beyond your eye’s natural width.

Apply Adhesive

  • Squeeze a fine line of glue on the lash band. Use a thin brush if you prefer.
  • Wait thirty seconds or until the adhesive becomes tacky.

Position with Precision

  • Use your clean (CLEAN!) fingers or, better yet, tweezers.
  • Start in the middle, and then work outwards.
  • Gently press along the band to lock into your natural lash roots.

Conceal and Blend

  • Apply a fine line of eyeliner, keeping as close to the lash base as possible.
  • Merge false and real hairs with a brush.

Subtle Shadowing for Definition

You almost always only need a whisper of eye shadow to complete your look, especially if it’s for more of a daily lash.

A soft matte shade, one or two tones darker than your skin, applied lightly in the natural crease, enhances the depth without adding that look of ‘heaviness’, if you get what we mean. What overshadowing does, in the literal sense, is that it tends to create a sunken effect. For deep-set eyes, we don’t want that!

The Art of Concealing the Band

A flawless lash line depends on clever concealment. After pressing the strip into place, take a waterproof pencil or gel liner and draw a line directly over the lash band. Some might be more comfortable letting the lash sit for a quick second, letting the glue really take hold before touching the lash again.

Choose a dark brown or black that matches the band colour. For a less intense look, a charcoal grey can soften the effect while still offering neat coverage. This final step ensures no gap or glue residue will betray your secret weapon.

Caring for Your Falsies

Investing in quality lash strips pays off when you maintain them properly. After each wear, follow these easy steps! With attentive care, your lashes could last for a long time, making them an economical addition to your beauty arsenal. If you wear them multiple times, they’re basically free (yay, girl math!).

  • Gently peel off the strip, starting at the outer corner. Don’t yank them off. Goodness!
  • Remove residual glue by pinching the band with your fingertips or tweezers. Use a cotton swab if you need to.
  • Store your deep-set lashes in the original tray to preserve their shape and keep the hairs in place. If you feel like they’re dirty, a separate case will work just fine as long as it’s clean.
  • Avoid oil-based removers that can weaken the band or fibres. Luckily for you, Method also has those in stock.

Live and Love Your Lashes

Now that you have the know-how, grab your favourite lash set, gather your tools, and unleash your inner artist. Those deep-set eyes will speak volumes long after your lashes flutter into view. We totally didn’t mean that pun, but if it works…!
